My blog post for the next few days may or may not be nearly as detailed – I have a friend visiting from out-of-town.
I am sure that lots of people are gearing up for their new years themed blog post. Is the blogging world writing about resolutions and summaries of the year past?
Always to be part of the minority, this will be the only blog post I write concerning new years, and it says this: I am not writing a new years blog post. So ha! I have only to reflect on the fact that my friends and I used to have a yearly tradition of playing “Wasted Youth” and “Everything Louder Than Everything Else” by Meat Loaf (On the Bat Out Of Hell II Album) right at the new year, and this year we might be a little too scattered to do it. The lyrics don’t really fit my state of mind anymore, but it’s fun to scream lyrics and remember. My friends and I used to engage in an insane singalong to these two songs.
I no longer have a big “group’ of friends like I used to – rather, I have lots of individual friends and lots of small groups. I guess I don’t mind, except when traditions get lost in the midst.
To my oldest friends: If the thrill is gone, then it’s time to take it back!

I’ve got a brand new tradition for new year’s eve – I’m going to blast ‘Highway To Hell’ just before it rings 12.
